Children are important at Calvary Baptist Church. They are our future, and our goal is to help them grow in "wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man." There are many ministries provided for pre-school and school age children to accomplish this goal. For all children, there are Sunday school and children's church classes taught with materials appropriate for your child's age and level of understanding.

Pre-school children's church provides a very informal "church" setting to help the young child become adjusted to the concepts of group worship and of sitting still and listening while recognizing the reality of shorter attention spans and natural exuberance. Children who are in kindergarten through third grades attend children's church that is a "step up." The services are even more like a regular church service; however, the teachers still take into consideration the maturity level of these young children. Junior church gives fourth through sixth graders the opportunity to have church with sermons that are age and experience appropriate for them and also gives them occasion to serve through singing, playing offertories, taking the offering, and more.

Wednesday evenings have special times for children too. During the school year, first through sixth graders can benefit from Patch the Pirate Club. Patch the Pirate Club emphasizes spiritual growth as each club member participates daily in Bible devotions. Club members also learn godly character traits and gain musical knowledge in their weekly club meeting. Each month, the club performs as a choir for the church body to enjoy. Each month's lessons and songs emphasize a godly character trait. Music theory is also taught along with singing skills. While Mom and Dad are in prayer meeting and older siblings are in Patch Club, pre-schoolers enjoy time in their gym classes where there is a Bible lesson, singing, crafts, and time for social interaction with their friends.

Fourth through sixth graders can also take advantage of junior age activities. Once a month they get together for some fun activity (including swimming, miniature golf, attending hockey games, and gym games) and a devotional challenge. In the summer, there is the opportunity for a week of spiritual growth and tons of fun at the Bill Rice Ranch.

Throughout the year, there are other special activities just for children such as Vacation Bible School and an annual Harvest Party. We want your child to know he is special to us and to the Lord.
